چکیده
Oroxylum indicum commonly called Indian tumplet flower (Nepali name: Tatelo, Karamkanda, saune tatal) belongs to the Bignoniaceae family and it is widely used in traditional medicine.1, 2 Traditionally, the stem, bark, seeds and leaves used for the treatment of the diarrhea, typhoid and stomachache. It has also been used as antitussive, analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents for the treatment of cough, bronchitis and other lungs diseases. Considering its wide traditional uses we have carried out phytochemical studies on Oroxylum indicum to isolate its biologically active compounds. In the present study we have isolated four pure compounds (1-4) from the stem bark of O. indicum. The structure of isolated compounds was established on the basis of spectral analysis. Furthermore, the isolated compounds were showed the toxicity towards the brine-shrimp and they inhibited the growth of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Phytochemical Screening and Evaluation of Analgesic Activity of Oroxylum indicum
We aimed to study phytochemical screening and analgesic activity of ethanol extract of Oroxylum indicum. The dried powder of the barks of the plant was extracted with 95% ethanol and was subjected to various phytochemical tests to ascertain the principle constituents contained in the extract. The result revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, glycosides in the ethanol extract o...

Different types of terpenoids were separated from extract of bark of Oroxylum indicum. The composition of phytoconstituents terpenoids was determined by GC and GC-Mass technique. Sixteen components were identified, out of which three components are major constituents. Identification of all the components was done by spectral studies, retention time and by comparing with standards. PHYTOCHEMISTRY

In the present study, free radical scavenging activities of the two plants, Oroxylum indicum (L) Kurz and Quercus infectoria G. Olivier were investigated. Free radical scavenging activities of stem bark of O. indicum and insect galls of Q. infectoria were characterized by the HPLC method developed by D. Chandrashekhar, et al, 2005 using Waters 100 RP-18e column (250 mm × 4 mm, 5 μM) in which st...
